Here at Brunton, we make language sessions exciting and as active as possible. We understand that children learn in different ways, and our sessions are designed with this in mind. We encourage the children to use their skills that they are constantly developing in the rest of the curriculum in our language lessons, including listening, reading, writing and speaking. We start our language sessions in Reception; the children learn basic phrases and vocabulary, and most importantly have fun! Key stage 2 children are taught a variety of topics in Spanish, focussing on new vocabulary and simple grammatical structures so that the children can use and apply their new knowledge. The topics are in line with other schools feeding to the same middle school, so that all children learning Spanish in year 5 have a similar learning background.

Children in different year groups have access to after school clubs and have the choice between French and Spanish.
