Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Brunton First School we believe that every child is equal, valued and unique. We aim to provide an environment where all pupils feel safe and can flourish. We will respond to individuals in ways which take account of their varied life experiences and particular needs. Brunton First School is committed to providing an education that enables all pupils to make progress so that they achieve their best, become confident individuals living fulfilling lives and make a successful transition into adulthood.

We work closely with parents and carers and are supported by other professionals and specialists to develop bespoke interventions on an individual basis. This positive collaborative work ensures our children are well supported to make progress and achieve their potential. If you are concerned that your child has a Special Educational Need, you should speak to the class teacher initially. All class teachers work alongside Mrs Lee (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to plan and review SEN provision. For further information please download our SEN Policy below.

Family, Advice and support team (Previously North East Special Needs Network (NSNN) Supports families with disabled children and young people from birth to 25 years. The team provides information and advice on a range of issues, from helping you to navigate your way around the Local Offer, connecting you with other services, to offering advice on a range of specific issues such as transport, holidays, activities and planning for adulthood.
